Color is something we all love to experiment with in warm weathers, but as the temperature starts to plummet many of us tend to stay away from it; we try to keep our cold-weather style monochromatic, minimal, seeking what’s cozy but usually a bit boring (think: camel trenches, gray sweaters, and black overcoats).

However, pastels for fall — refreshing. This fall, we are embracing vibrant shades but a much softer iteration, making them integral to our warmth-ensuring styling. Are you ready to try out some Instagrammable colors? Or think of it as adding a few colorful accents to what you’ve already owned.

Read on to find the 3 fall color trends that will liven up your wardrobe.

Pistachio green

This fall, green is for the win. Not just any other leafy color, pistachio green, as its name suggests, is a nutty green color tinged with a hint of gray — understated yet eye-catching enough for the dull-colored, breezy season. Making its mark on blouses, dresses, and coats, while being seen on former I.O.I member Kang Mi-na and drama Hotel Del Luna’s leading actress Lee Ji-eun (also known as IU), this refreshing hue has sprouted in spring and summer and continued to strive through the gust.

Soft yellow

Yellow for the goal! A light-hearted, fun distant cousin of versatile neutrals, soft yellow is having a moment and making a bid for the minimalist color crown this fall. Rather than eye-catching, ‘look-at-me’ brights, the 2019 fall iteration is more a mellow, #stickofbutter derivative. The secret to incorporating this trending hue into your everyday styling is to treat it as though you would white or beige. (It’s easier than it sounds.) Red Velvet’s member Seul-gi paired hers with a checked bucket hat. We also love posing against a grassy garden in a light-yellow dress for a candid shot.

What’s better way to lift your mood in the gloomy fall than a whimsical, soft yellow?

Lavender purple

Did we just say purple? Yes, you heard us. Once the most regal and sought-after of shades, this divisive color makes a comeback this fall in a much softer (and easier-to-style) edition — lavender. Think of it as the sequel (the grown-up version) of the Millennial Pink, instilling a dreamy, almost-romantic vibe into your chilly-weather outfits without any of the clichés.

Lavender is a true ‘unicorn’— a more sophisticated shade than anything else of high saturation. Keep scrolling for some lavender-themed styling inspo and check out how Red Velvet’s member Wendy cozied up in a lavender-hued, plush coat.
