Sulwhasoo is a subsidiary brand of Korean beauty giant AmorePacific, which also owns Etude House, innisfree, LANEIGE and many other celebrated beauty brands. Pronounced as “suhl-ha-soo,” the name Sulwhasoo consists of three Korean characters meaning “snow,” “flower” and “phenomenal.” Altogether, the name means “seeking the exquisite allure of a plum blossom springing forth through snow.” Sulwhasoo’s pursuit of true holistic beauty is a journey that begins with Asian wisdom and the desire to enhance skin’s self-recovery by achieving harmony and equilibrium, both with nature and within the body.


Launched in 1966, Sulwhasoo’s ABC Ginseng Cream marked its first success in creating ginseng-based products. In 1973, the brand gave birth to Ginseng SAMMI, the world’s first cosmetic product made using ginseng saponin. The brand changed its name from Sulwha to Sulwhasoo in 1997.
